Ipod Touch 4G - Screen Replacement

DD has cracked her Ipod Touch 4G screen. (Mainly around the Home button, but there are fine thread cracks all across the glass). The Ipod still works though.

Can anyone recommend someone that replaces these screens, who is good and good value please? I've done a search, but as I've never had this before it's difficult to know who can be trusted.

TIA.

72 views but no replies. :(

Am I the only one to have encountered this issue? (I'd be very surprised if I am).

hi have you tried firstly to see how much apple will charge to fix it?

or you can do it yourself, the kit is here on ebay:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-iPod-Touch-4G-LCD-Digitizer-Screen-Assembly-4th-Gen-Apple-/110763761062?pt=UK_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item19ca08dda6#ht_3345wt_1112

and also on youtube there are videos on how to open it safely.
    ewwwww what is that...

If you have an apple store nearby go and see them. I've heard of a few occasions where they have given a free replacement.
I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.

I've seen the Youtube videos on how to effect a repair (i.e. replace the screen), but thanks anyway. Whilst I could probably do it I've got other things to be doing with my time. But for only £16.99 ...... :)

Looking online I've seen prices like £65 for getting a company to do the repair - anyone have an idea what Apple charge? (I doubt they'd offer a free replacement ... it's about 16 months old and the damage was caused by a teaspoon falling onto it edge-wise).

haha ok cool, thought i might help, you save a lot of money doing it yourself, since going to an independant repair shop will probably cost close to £60?

Same problem with screen cracking on iPod Touch 4G. Apple Store swapped it for a 'New one' for £75. Not lucky to get it for free but fortunately my credit card (Barclay world mastercard) reimbursed £75, as it was only 1 month old ! Decided to use Apple, as the other companies seemed to charge around £69.
