Buying a new House

We've recently put a reservation down on a new property, cheque has not been cashed. They offered us a deal but we have asked for a bit more, since then they have promised to ring us back, they do not, and now seem to be ignoring us, this is for the past 2 days. We realsie we signed a reservation form and understand we will loose 250 if we pull out but we are sick and tired of been giving the run around when we are potentially buying there house, I would understand if we were asking for the earth but its only carpets and turf at the back.
Due to there unwillingness do you think we can just cancel the cheque and write one for the 250.
