Morgan Stanley card showing on credit references as Barclay card?

Hi PPI reclaim gurus,
Back story:( (long)
After seeing so much information on this site about mis-sold PPI, I thought I had nothing to lose trawling through my old loan and credit cards to see if I had ever paid it. (As a civil servant of 20 + years {please don't hold that against me,} I would not have needed PPI due to our very generous sick pay etcetc.)

I got copies of my credit reference files and wrote to all my previous loan and credit card companies requesting details of my agreements with them.

As I had had 2 Barclaycards, according to the credit reports, I sent them a SAR and £10 requesting all details of all my accounts.
They susequently replied saying no PPI on my account held from 2009 -11.
They didn't send any details of the account held 2004 -08.
I phoned them and was informed that no other Barclaycard account is held on me.

I checked my bank statements and for the period in question I was paying a direct debit to Morgan Stanley!
There is no record of a Morgan Stanley credit card on any of my credit reports and Barclaycard are adament that I had no other account on record.

Were Morgan Stanley taken over by Barclaycard? and
Who do I write to get information on this account?

Morgan Stanley are no longer in the UK credit card business, so where to write to might take some puzzling. The group has a website

They did sell out to Barclaycard

I would doubt if you were paying PPI with them though - Barclaycard would have carried on with it if you were.

Edit - as you were a civil servant I would guess your MS card came about through Frizzell/Liverpool Victoria - I doubt if they would have sold you unwanted PPI - they should have known their market well enough not to.

I too had an Morgan Stanley card which we had years ago. When I SARed Barclaycard it came back with 3 accounts we knew we had 2 the 3rd one turned out to be a MS card which had moved over to Barclaycard a few years ago and joined with 1 of the accounts.
As I have done 3 complaints to Barclaycard for the 3 accounts. I phoned them to query a letter I had off them and they said 2 of the accounts were the same the old MS and BC merge. They also told me when the account was opened (2000) so hopefully I will be getting some news off them soon.
