Does anyone know if you can bulk buy sugar for a good price, or where large packs are available for a reasonable cost.
We make our own cordials, jams etc and need plenty of sugar at this time of year and for our food storage plan at home ??
Can anyone point me in the right direction ?0 -
I got some at Costco a week or two ago for about 55p a bag. I had to get 15 bags, but mum took a few from me. I would have done it anyway as it's now nearly 80p per bag."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Shampoo & conditioner is bought in 5ltr bottles from an online company and is Trevor Sorbie costing about £12 for 10ltrs (1 of each) and lasts about a year. xx
Have you got details of this website? This would save me a fortune!
Thanks0 -
At the moment I have enough Dove soap and Imperial Leather to last til Christmas. In TJ Hughes 3 years ago, they did 3750ml of Tigi shampoo for £9.99 (same as they use in the hairdressers). I bought 2 and have finished the first one last month - I wash my hair every day!!. I decant into old shampoo bottle and use. Conditioner I buy BOGOF's. (still have 3 to start).
Shower gel/bubble bath - still using up from Christmas and sent for freebies from website to try.
Fabric conditioner - use Lenor - have 7 in cellar and pour half into old bottle and then dilute with water, so this should last til Christmas.
In Tescos' they were rebranding their handwashing liquid - reduced to 50p instead of £1.20+, bought 6 so should last a while.Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j

I often buy stuff in Boots when it is BOGOF, toothpaste, showergel etc and also when extra points. We have three big plastic tubs in the bathroom, one full of toothpaste, shaving stuff etc, one full of shampoo/shower stuff and one full of baby stuff. Still using baby wash/shampoo that I bought before he was born and got extra Boots points.
We have a Tesco opening soon here.....anyone suggest any long running deals/offers that are too good to miss ? What is their value/basic range like ?
Ok, thanks in advance.
Hi OS - I can imagine the sort of range of shops you have - broadly similar to the Hebrides I would imagine, Co-ops and a few independants? When we're over there we are always impressed at the amount of bits and bobs that the Co-Ops stock, but the prices are certainly higher than mainland. Once we are there all the time I would think that an occasional trip to a tesco on the mainland when we are over anyway will be an essential. I think you're getting your Tesco in the same batch as them opening in Stornoway too - they've taken over the old Somerfield store there and I think are enlarging it too. Will be interesting to see what they've done.
There are some staples from the Tesco value range that I buy all the time - tinned chopped tomatoes and tinned tuna are two that pring to mind immediately - plus the obvious plain and self raising flour - no difference so far as I can see from their regular or branded flours, and only 36p a bag down here. Baked beans also, and their red kidney beans are fine for chilli's, casseroles etc.
We do a "stock up shop" once a month where I top up levels of the basics. We usually start the month with about 8 tins of tomatoes and about 6 of Tuna - that's a months worth for us depending on how much batch cooking I have to do. At that stage I also make sure I have enough bread flour, sunflower oil, washing powder etc for the month. The weekly shop is basically just fresh stuff - fruit, veg & dairy. There are two other occasions when I bulk buy or stock up - the first is items that I use regularly which are on a special offer, BOGOF or reduced price. The other is when I have a "money off total spend" voucher to use. We have a cupboard full of washing powder tablets at the moment as I bought them on last months stock-up to bring the value of the shop to the level I needed for a voucher, then I got a flipping till-spit for 100 extra clubcard points so I have to buy two more! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

surely you can bulk buy anything that wont go off
Wipes are always good value on bulk buys as are nappies0 -
Anything in a tins - beans, tomatoes, sweet corn.
Freezer stuff:
veg - peas, green beans.
Cooked pulses eg. chick peas, kidney beans
Meat frozen in meal-sized portions e.g. chicken breasts, chops, mince.0 -
I would suggest toilet rolls - they are bulky and hard to carry on the bus etc.0
