I have a laptop (XP SP2) which will just not connect to the wireless router.
See's it but stalls on the handshaking.
Reinstalled the Netgear usb stick a lot of times.
Tried different USB sticks. No luck.
Tried a PCMCIA. That wouldn't connect either.
Tried the Windows wireless utility and the manufactures utility.
Tried with and without passwords.
Tried router with different laptop. Works fine.
Firewall on/ Firewall off
Downloaded all the Win Updates.
Spybotted, AVGed, (spy and virus)
Reinstalled TCP/ IP.
Run out of ideas.
Any ideas?

some lappys require you to press a simple function button above the main KB keys, to connect to the net.
make sure you have done that. dell lappys have this button.

Are the adapters all 54g? If one of the them is 11b the router may be set to only alow 54g. It will need to be set on autoNudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0

so you can see your router ssid in the windows list, and when you connect, do you get limited or no connectivity?
When you turned encryption off, do you have any other security on the router, mac address filtering, limited dhcp scope etc?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

Cheers folks I'll lob through the thankyous later.
Tried another different stick from a different manufacturer and it works using their software.
But before it went through, the Windows firewall asked me did I want to block or unblock the new software.
Could it be the the Window Firewall is corrupted and messing about and blocking the Windows wireless zero config.? Or vice versa..0
