Notebooks what is the cheapest

My granddaughter would like to buy a notebook, she is 9 years old and has saved £200. I know by looking around the shops that they cost a lot more than that, but can any one help or know a site on the internet that I can purchase one for her not going too much over the money she has saved?

the dell outlet is often a good source of cheap computers. However to be able to provide any advice we would need more info. What is she planning to do with it? Is she interested in games, will it be connected to the net etc.

Pretty much any laptop will do internet, and general office stuff.

The problems are encoutered when you start playing games, the all singing graphics heave games require alot more than a £200 laptop even a £500 laptop proberbly won't cut it. Games like minesweeper and solitaire are no problems older games again are fine it is just ther newer games that require the hiher end graphics cards that will cause a problem.

Find out what games she likes to play then we can have a look at the requirements for the games and we can advise you better.

    I wish I could have saved £200 when I was 9.

I assume the games a 9yr old would play may go up as far as the Sims. Not too stressful for a laptop but it will be worth knowing to advise properly.

She wants to access the internet with Broad Band wireless and wants to use microsoft office software. Don't think she wants to play any games on the laptop. Any ideas, where I can get her the laptop that she wants?

Brand new laptops start at around £350-£400, all in this price range will run the internet with no problems, most have wifi (wireless) built in. Ebuyer.co.uk & Misco.co.uk are both companies I purchase from regularly for work (a school).

You could look for reconditioned ones, companies such as speedie.co.uk (have used them years ago) sell pentium 3 laptops for less than £200. If £200 is the limit, It may be worth buying a copy of Micromart from your newsagent as they often have adverts from companies such as speedie computers.
