Cheapest (and best) way to hard floor utility room with uneven concrete base

We have a small utility room which houses washing machine, dryer, cat feeding area and tons of other stuff. It measures around 7ft by 5ft. At the minute, it is carpeted because underneath it is an uneven concrete floor with some pits in it.

However, the carpet is a nightmare in this area and we want to hard floor it.

My question is: do we have to level the concrete floor first? This will be a nightmare as this is a high traffic area. It would mean taking all the machines out and locking the cat flap for several days! Plus the expense.

Instead, could we put some underlay underneath and then lino maybe?

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks!

Lino with underlay underneath would be awful.

Could you not use latex self levelling compound? That's what was used on my kitchen floor and was ok to walk on after a few hours.
