DVLA - payment types (sorry if in wrong section of forum)

Hi all, (sorry if in wrong section of forum),

Basically need some advice coz i am a little stupid when it comes to paying for anything. i am applying for my provisional licence tomorrow, and because postal orders for £50 come with a 12.50% fee (£6.50)
it is just too much. now my friend has said he will write a cheque for me to be made payable to dvla, with my name/date of birth written on the back. Will the dvla accept this cheque coming from my friend but for my application, as it doesnt come from my bank account or my name?

I can't see any reason why not, they shouldn't be concerned about who has written the cheque, I'm sure it happens a lot with parents paying for their child's licence, and the name may be different in that case too.

If its made payable to them and signed by the account holder, they will not care whose name it says on the front. Just make sure you friend has the funds in the account. You don't want the cheque to bounce!

Hi all just to let you know the dvla did accept the cheque and i received my licence today yay i can learn to drive now ( and very quick proccessing by the dvla very happy)
