KIA Dealer Nightmare!
All,
First time poster, long time lurker.
Just interested to know if anyone knows my rights in regards to buying a car.
Recently I brought a car (1st March) and got this on Finance whilst also part exchanging my previous car to cover the deposit and I was offered over £700 back as my car was worth too much to put it all into the deposit, great! (or so I thought).
After picking up the car:
1. No manual - Took over 5 weeks to get one
2. The parcel shelf lug kept falling out - Apparently the part is now in - Took over 5 weeks again.
3. Wrong car mats fitted (and was obvious so they clearly hoped I would not notice) got the "new" ones last week but they weren't new they were dirty so clearly used.
4. The Sat Nav - Well it's awful, no full post code support and it doesn't even recognise some major towns like High Wycombe!!!
5. I STILL do not have this cheque, even though I keep getting Kia bumpf through the post and they have rung me up trying to sell me gap insurance multiple times offering a lower and lower price.
6. It doesn't meet the MPG stated (clear motorway driving 70mpg no harsh driving and a 90 mile run equated to 41.5MPG, it's supposed to achieve 67.3 urban (I know you'll never meet the manual but that's only ~60% of what it's supposed to achieve!!!) is this right ? is there likely to be something wrong or does it need "bedding in" for a few thousand miles ?
I've now got to the stage of physically wanting to give the car back, exit the agreement and get a car elsewhere, am I within my rights to do this or am I stuck now ?
So in summary still not 100% of a car, a missing cheque and a 60% MPG against what they state, any advice?

Re: mpg - it'll get better as the car gets used. Initially it will be a bit higher as it is a new engine. That said, what engine is in it? 70mph is outside the efficient range for a lot of little cars, you'll get the results at 50 or 60 mph.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Pro Cee'd and yes unfortunately the "test" for the MPG they can advertise is done in conditions that aren't able to be met on the roads, e.g. no wind, an average speed of around 40MPH, for example apparently their "extra urban" calculation is based on a 4.3 mile journey with speeds up to 75MPH but average of 39MPH.... who drives at 39MPH on a motorway ?0 -
MPG tests are standardised, so your objections would apply equally to any car.0

None of these are valid reasons for handing the car back.
I would be pursuing the dealership for the refund due - thats nothing to do with KIA.
As has been stated the fuel consumption will improve with age.0 -
1. Assume you have this now so no longer an issue? All,

2. Warranty claim.
3. Were new mats specified on the paperwork, if so speak to the dealer.
4. Did you get a Ceed 4 with the factory sat nav or is it an aftermarket unit? Did you test it in a demonstrator before you ordered it?
5. The £700 is due from the dealer. The other stuff is probably from KIA finance.
6. Assuming you bought a 0 miles car then the mpg should improve over time.
So only 3, 4 and 5 are outstanding?0 -

I wasn't sure hence checked if I had reasons to hand it back.
Yes new mats were specified i'll chase that.
As for the cheque I got passed around the people again today, might go sit in the dealership on the weekend and get it sorted faster in person.0 -
We recently bought a new Kia and we love it.
It doesn't do the mpg quoted in the brochure but then, as has been said, those figures are the result of EU standard tests and Kia have to use them. Having said that, the mpg is gradually increasing as we put more miles on it.
You could do worse than joining the UK Kia owner's forum. There is a dedicated Kia customer service section. If you have a genuine beef with a dealer, they will help you sort it out.

Crikey. If you're upset now, wait until you see the trade in price for your Ceed in 3 years time. I'll have the box of tissues ready.
I'm guessing its a diesel? MPG should be a lot better in 10000 miles time.0 -
In terms of MPG the Pro-ceed is listed on Honestjohn's website as achieving in real life between 47–58 mpg. That doesn't take into account the stop start system in an EcoDynamics version but if you are driving on the motorway that isn't applicable.
Potentially a car with a stop start system would be chosen by those used to that type of driving and consequently given different gear ratios but that is just a thought.
Some improvement is to be expected over time and as the driver gets used to their particular car and moulds to produce a more efficient driving style.0
