I have a lovely wood stove fitted - new, expensive, well fitted etc. The man who said he would give me a certificate didnt and now is untraceable. he was a HETAS engineer but has left the country. I am told a certificate from BUilding Regs is 450 quid! anyone know how to get an engineer who is reliable and will actually give a certificate? also I want to put a stove in my office at the bottom of the garden and need the same person to fit it I think... any suggestions, pointers ,information etc would be gratefully received. THanks

Have you contacted Hetas regarding the certification ? they should be able to inspect the installation and reissue any paperwork.
As for the new stove, you dont need the same person at all, what you do need is either building regs approval or a Hetas engineer or company to fit it for you and they will then give you the relivent paperwork.
It might be an idea to ask the company that fir the new stove to inspect the other stove install and for them the do a new certificate - unlikely as no one wants to sign off something which they did not do but if you dont ask then you wont know. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Don't pay until you have the cert, or retain at least £450 until you have the cert. the fact you want another stove fitted should help.0
