iShares MSCI World with iii... or better not?

Dear All,

Thanks for opening this thread.

After some research, I would like to invest a sum of £4,000 in the iShares MSCI World and wrap this in a self-select ISA. The only provider I came across where I can invest in this product is iii.co.uk.

Questions:

III say the only costs involved are the £10 when buying the fund. Is that true or are there any hidden costs the customer is not made aware of in the course of time?

According to most recent reviews I picked up in the internet, iii is doing rather badly since recently. I’m wondering if by and large you think this provider is trustworthy? Or would you rather forget about this particular fund and go with another provider (eg, HL, x-o?)

Thank you for your advice,

Leo

what you are buying is an etf - so the only cost will be the trade - no stamp duty to pay.

with iii you can opt to use their bulk buy option which only costs £1.50 - the downside is that iii only do these at fixed times during the month. however as you're not a 'trader' hoping to buy or sell at just the right time it doesn't really matter.

any platform or stockbroker that deals in shares will be able to handle an etf so checkout others from this list: http://www.money.co.uk/share-dealing.htm

    svs looks good to me

I have been with iii for quite a long time. Last October when they migrated to their own platform there were a few teething problems but, to be honest, I haven't experienced any problems with using them and I have both ISAs and Trading Accounts.

An ETF will be available absolutely anywhere so far as I know. Its just another share

List the top 10 shares held by this fund. I suspect world means USA and dinosaur size companies that nearly went extinct in 2008

Dont buy all at once unless you are certain you know this is a very cheap market. Almost always better to scale in

iii work well enough, they did stumble a bit but are ok now
