ebay scam.

I sold an item earlier on in the week and got an email from the buyer email address asking if i could post the item to their fathers address as they were away. They gave an address in cheshire.

I was a bit supprised as the buyer hadnt paid yet and yet the email from them said "hi again" as if they had already contacted me.

I replied saying that id ship the item as soon as they paid and they replied saying "no problem, remember to use my fathers address".

Anyway. 2 days later the buyer pays and I confirm with them the cheshire address to which they say that they never emailed me and that they have never heard of the address.

Checking the "fake" emails and they actually are from a sparkmail.co.uk address and the sender was spoofing the actual buyers email address in them, so if you didnt check the properties of the email address, or view the headers you wouldnt have noticed.

Are buyers email addresses easily viewable to anyone on ebay?

I normally only ship to either the ebay address or the paypal address, but I can see how easily someone could fall for this scam as I nearly did as occasionally you do get people who have moved and dont want you to post to the paypal address.

So, watch out if you have any similar emails to the one i got from any of your buyers!!!!!!!!!!!

In theory, no, however, if the buyer is also a seller, it is easily obtained using the "Ask The Seller" a question.

The above is solved by not using your account email addy for any "Ask The Seller" responses. ;)
