    Hi all,

I decided I want to buy some wellie boots in case we ever have very bad weather (deep snow or flooding). I haven't had a pair since I was a kiddie so have no idea where to try. I just want a basic, cheap as poss pair. I thought about looking on Ebay but thought that with the heavy postage cost they wouldn't be as cheap as a shop.

    Any suggestions welcomed!

    Try Asda....!

  • Lidl sometimes sell wellies.

I noticed some very trendy pink flowered ones in TK Maxx this week, very pretty but not sure they'd stay pretty for long after wading through mud & snow!

We have a local shoe shop that sells discounted/cheap (no brand names) shoes & boots and whilst they didn't have any wellies on display, when I asked they said they always keep in stock some, very basic ones, plain green no frills.

I recently bought 1 pair for my daughter in Woolies, I think they cost about £5. I bought my son a pair from Tesco's they were even cheaper. Our local Wilkinsons do them, but didn't seem to do anything between a child size 12 and adult sizes/.

Try Asda, Tesco, Woolies or Wilkinson. If you fancy wellies with a pattern try New Look - I got a polka-dot pair from there last year for around £8.

For adults try countryside stores - Scats, Mole Valley Farmers, etc. These are usually good for quality boots and clothing generally at good prices.
  • For some reason they always appear to be cheaper in Wales as well.

Countrywide farmers are good to,and have got a number of stores around the countryside. At the other end of the cheap scale are some very expensive Hunter wellies at www.mandmsports.com .Click hunter under the brand search bar as these have got up to £22 off but still seem very expensive to me.
sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes you're the statue!

  • Edna - thanks for that link, I knew I'd seen them somewhere reduced.
Hunters may be expensive, but they are just about the best wellies you can buy together with Le Chameau. If you've stopped growing, buy a pair and they'll last for 20 years - £2 a year isn't bad value!

i've spent the week trying to buy cheap wellies for myself. finally found some at shoe zone - unisex green wellies for 6.99. looked everywhere else, but it seems womens' wellies all have to have a heel, so i guess they were more fashion than ditch/puddle/mud wellies....migth try wearing some of the heeled ones out clubbing next week though
