20 notes isn't going to cover it if you do it legit - the whole supply would need to be soundness tested before and after.

I'd expect my gas man to charge me around £80.

yeah - I know... but that's the price you pay nowadays... :-(

I had a gas leak after removing the nail that held picture from the wall above the fireplace.

I had gas safe registered engineer to come and cap it off as we were removing the fireplace anyway. He had to find the pipe in the wall and cap it off. The wall was not sorted out after by him, as we were replastering the room anyway.

For this job I paid £40 about a year ago, if I remember correctly. The same guy fitted a new boiler for us few months before.

What area are you in ChrissyG?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Between £40 and £80. Basically the cost of a callout as the parts are negligible. If they do it correctly then they'll also do a leak test too, which takes a little while.

My charge would be my minimum £60 + VAT attendance fee.
