Placed in WRAG not support group - help

Hi

I have passed my ATOS medical and was awarded 27 points however I was placed in the wrag. Can I speak to someone to get them to reconsider their descision and ask why I was not placed inthe support group? Or do I have to send them a letter?

Kind regards

Your award notice will have come with details of what to do if you're unhappy with with the decision.

You can either call the number on the front of the letter or write to them within a month of the date of the letter to ask them to explain their decision and get a written statement of reasons of how they came to the decision and ask for a reconsideration.

It may be worth reading the Guide to the Work Capability Assessment to see if you think you meet any of the descriptors for the Support Group (Limited Capability for Work-Related Activity). You can download it here:
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Illorinjured/DG_172012

or open the pdf directly here:
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@disabled/documents/digitalasset/dg_177366.pdf

The number of points you received on your WCA isn't relevant - you need at least 15 to be considered to have limited capability for work and be put into WRAG but you need to meet at least one of the relevant descriptors to be put into the Support Group.

Do you fit any of the support group descriptors?

I'm in exactly the same boat as you, i've asked the reasons by ringing the dhss (local office that issues your benefits). got a work relaed interview, it basically means that sometime in the future your be fit to work.

    It doesn't.
It means that you are in a group that as a whole will be expected to be able to return to work.

There is no automatic entry to the support-group for those whos conditions are lifelong, even if this is agreed by the DSS.
