Holidaying in Devon

Hi everyone, i'm in need of some advice, we are thinking about booking a cottage this summer in Devon, I used to go to North Devon every year with my parents and I always had a fantastic time and I want my boys to share that same sort of experience!

My question is can anyone recommend a town/area to stay in? We want somewhere near the sea. A friend mentioned a town called Croyde? Does anyone know it?
Thanks. x

Our family has been to Croyde several times, although not recently, and have always had a great time.We have stayed at the RUDA holiday camp - caravans plus indoor pool & entertainment. Both times there were for Sun weekends. We also stayed in a cottage in the village one year and my 2 (now 15 & 18) still talk about that week. The beach is huge, great for surfing although we just made sand castles, paddled and went rock pooling.
    I would recommend it :)
  • Hi there, try using http://tidd.ly/aae4d815 Blue Chip Holidays as they have some great accommodation for North Devon and for me I love Ilfracombe loads of interesting places, good beaches plenty to do, a great family holiday, do not know if they have any availability at Sea foam house http://tidd.ly/beb0cacf looks great though

Thanks for the replys guys, netti I think we are going to look at booking a cottage in Croyde, we came across Farm & Cottage holidays http://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/devon/north-devon/croyde and we liked the look of a cottage called Croyde Shores, although they don't take dogs :-( Might just give them a call. Anyone used this company before?

Croyde is fab-your cottage is a v reasonable prices for Croyde as it can be pricey. I've stayed at Ruda on a Sun Deal before twice and had a fab time (the standard of caravan was really good both times) but in the school hols it can be really expensive-circa £600+. It's a fab village-has everything, beautiful beach with some surf schools , National Trust cliff walks to Baggy Point and a few nice pubs, surfy type shops and ice cream parlour but not over commercialised. Have an amazing time. We're going to Woolcombe in a few weeks and I will definitely be making a trip to Croyde-we always start our North Devon holidays with a lunch in the Thatch at Croyde!
