I think there's a very good chance Lloyds Branch staff are badly misinformed about Faster Payment limits. They told me the other day it was £10K.

When I checked online, I found it's £25K. There is an outside chance that the online limit is higher than what they can do in Branch, though I think it is more likely that the Branch folk just don't know about online limits.

Perhaps it is true that the limit for payments at the counter are £10K without charge, and anything above £10K costs money.

From what I have seen of Lloyds, there's a massive gulf between their Branches and their online operations - - Branches appear to be stuck in some time warp that stops them from catching up with modern times.

I did this to send 60K from a NatWest branch with no fee when the branch told me that it was "impossible" to send more than 10K per day from a branch or via online banking. The money arrived the same day.

These artificially low limits of 10K are just an attempt by the banks to force customers to use a pay service (CHAPS) for something that FPS can easily handle for free up to the official 100K limit. Dont let yourselves be had.
