Car insurance renewal more than last year

Hi,
I got my car insurance renewal from Admiral which has gone up from 600 to 650!. My driving is clean no claims whatsoever and hence was expecting it to be reduced but it has surprised me. I looked at couple of compare sites (gocompare and confused) but none are able to get me less than £600. I also tried Aviva, morethan but no joy.
Last option is look for any insurance company who promises to beat the renewal etc. Any advice massively appreciated.
Regards,
Sarah

What a surprise.0

You tried getting a quote from admiral as a new customer0

Car insurance like many things has gone up in price.
The main advice is shop around, haggle and also try adding a mature driver as a named driver - a parent perhaps?
Beyond that I'm afraid it's just price rises.0 -
Shop around, my insurance went down again this year.0

Thanks guys.
I managed to haggle with my current insurer and got the cost down by 20%. Whats interesting is I am now in comprehensive rather than third party.0 -
First of all why would it go down? Inflation would say everything increases in price each year.
Comprehensive is almost always cheaper because there is much more companies writing it than TPFT and competition always drives down prices. Plus those that buy TPFT normally have some very adverse history forcing them down that route which therefore means the common pool is very bad and premiums must raise to compensate.0 -
My Admiral renewal quote was £720 with 10 years no claims compared to last years £450 with 9 years no claims. Same car, same everything on the policy!
This years new winner came in at £420 which i budgeted for and paid up front for a saving over monthly payments of £60 for the length of the policy (another thing you should do)
I change insurers every single year. Companies NEVER reward loyalty you should start to realise that, they are there to make money from the people that cant be bothered to switch or never look at their finances.
Dont be upset by it though, its just business! a big game, the company vs the savvy consumer
MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
They dont reward them with lower premiums thats for sure. They can have an easier claims experience though0
