Moving - rented to rented - Broadband question

Hello all,
I am moving house on the 1st May tihs year from rented to rented.
I have been in my existing property 5 years so forgotten how difficult/easy moving some things are and I have a question about Broadband.
I am with Orange for line rental and BB at the moment and currently out of contract so can cancel whenever I want. I have found a better deal with Tesco BB and Line rental and wish to swap to this.
Which will be easier - Cancelling Orange now and getting Tesco then moving Tesco to the new property.
Moving Orange to the new property and then cancelling and getting Tesco.
(I want to try and keep my telephone number which Tesco allow)

Forgot to mention - The owners of the house I am renting are moving abroad and it is their first time renting - Do I need to ask them for their MAC code ?
