painting hit and miss fencing

I am looking for tips and suggestions for painting fencing. I think it is known as hit and miss fencing so will be difficult to paint with a brush as half of the panels are behind other panels. It looks like this http://www.fencesgates.co.uk/2012/03/11/ranch-fencing/
I have looked at the spray paint for panels but not many of them have good reviews. B&Q's own brand seems to have ok reviews but there haven't been many sunny days with no breeze to be able to do it.
I am looking for any suggestions of products to use and what to stay away from.

If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!

My MIL has one and it was done with Culprinol spray. Just make sure if you do to protect anything failing that why not use normal wood stain0

I think it would be really difficult to use normal woodstain and a brush as the half of the panels are sitting horizontally behind the front ones so would be hard to reach. That is why I was thinking that spraying might be a better option but the reviews of spray products have been terrible. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

I used to use the cheapest pump-up weed killer spray bottle (about 10L) and B&Q's own fence stain. Chuck the sprayer after use. The fence needed doing about every 3 years - don't spray when it's windy though! Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

Would a roller be any good?0

I'd be wary of spraying a fence like that. There is too much risk of spraying everything behind it too. Wind, or no wind.0

Hi,
I've got same style fence and do it every couple of years with wood stain and a brush.
Wear a rubber glove and get your brush in between the spars and do the uprights in each section first, then do the horizontals using a brush or mini roller.
Put an old sheet or something on the ground for drips, even though it's only grass or soil.
You can get mini roller in pound shop and throw away when finished,
or long handle,
and these are handy too, again can be found in pound shop.0 -

Agreed, pump sprayers are cheap and will do the job (if you have the energy to keep pumping it up)."Real knowledge is knowing the extent of one's ignorance."0
