ok, so it makes no difference that I have a card where I only have max 56 days to pay off the debt without incurring interest charges. I simply thought that one card had nothing to do with the other, since their benefits are completely different.

In that case I'll pay off the debt anyways and then throw my current card in the bin (in shredded form, of course:))

BTW i didn't know I had to wait 6 months anyways, in fact I have just applied and was refused.

The key point here is the fact they're both HSBC cards, which is what the criteria says.

I think applying anyway has been a complete waste of a search TBH; was there not a tick box or question where you had to okay the fact you don't already hold an HSBC card?

You'd have been better ringing Tesco and asking if they have any BT deals they could offer you.

because my business card is absolute rubbish, I only have 3 weeks of time to pay back whatever I spend without incurring interest charges, so I am using my personal card where I have at least a few more weeks....

Could you not get 30 day terms from your supplier?

yes I should have done that....still learning all the intricacies of credit cards.

There was no tick box in the HSBC application but I had the option to log into my account when applying, which I did, so maybe it avoided the waste of search TBH....don't really know. Thank you very much to all for the help.
