General benefits advice

I am sorry if this has been posted before but I seem to be going round in circles with the benefit system.

I separated from my husband a year ago and have worked full time until the end of March when the company made me redundant. I have a ten year old daughter at home with me.

I was sent to the job centre to claim income support and after two hours waiting and endless form filling they told me I couldn't claim it because my daughter is over the age of 7 and advised me to get in touch with my local housing benefits. They told me I could only claim housing and council tax benefits.

I think I am right in saying I can claim about £60 a week child tax credits but can I also claim job seekers? I have started working at our local school as a midday supervisor but this is only 4.5 hours a week at £7 an hour.

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

You can claim JSA if you are looking for full time work.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Yes, you can claim JSA and CTC at the same time.

What you earn will be deducted from JSA £ for £ apart from I think £20 as you are a single parent. So anything you earn over £20 will be taken off your JSA.
