Does anyone own a British Bulldog?

Thinking of buying a puppy for the kids (I have 4 ranging from 4 to 13) as they keep badgering me for a dog. I have always loved the bulldog breed but not sure if they are suitable with kids. Does anyone own one of these dogs and if so are they good with children?

I don't know about bulldogs but I can say that pugs are amazing with kids. My 2 girls can lay on him and he really doesn't care. Mine are 19 months and 4.What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

It's nothing to do with the breed it's the training. With 4 kids have you got time to train a puppy as they are hard work.0

They are absolutely sound with children, have no fears there. If you can put up with the passing of wind, drooling and snoring you will be onto a winner! I was brought up with them and also had them with my own children.
Forgot to add they can be pretty stubborn though0 -
We have 2 bulldogs and they are both brilliant with kids, other dogs etc, they are the softest dogs we have ever owned, love cuddles and kisses :rotfl:0

Training is the key to a good family dog. A quick advice, young kids and puppies can be an explosive mix.
Do not leave young kids unattended with any dog at any time.0 -
Thanks. I've never trained a dog before its all new to me but aren't there classes or something I can join to teach me how to train it, also would you recommend a girl or boy?0

As this is a money saving website - have you considered a rescue dog? Much cheaper, and you may be able to get a dog that has previously lived with children.
Also, bulldogs don't live very long, and can have a lot of expensive health problems. A crossbreed would be cheaper to insure, and is less likely to need such expensive vet treatment.0 -

I think the operative word there is CAN(and it applies to many many breeds)
Out of all the bullies I've known(50+) 1 had a caesarian, 1 had a hernia and 1 had a skin problem which is pretty reasonable imho.0 -
