Possible Wireless IP conflict with three computers, two ipods & two iphones?

Hi,
My household has been carrying on fine with three wireless-connected laptops, two ipods and two iphones but suddenly we can't connect up to the internet with two of the laptops - a little netbook on XP and a hefty Dell Studio 17". The third laptop a Samsung R780 does connect up. I'm using a wireless Netgear DG834Gv5 router and can't even get into the router settings on the two unconnected laptops.
The ipods and iphones are running fine now, although I did have a slight blip cos I took the iphones off wireless to see whether it made any difference and then it became difficult to join the network again but managed it after refreshing the router settings.
However the two laptops remain unconnected.
I'd appreciate any help with this! Thanks!

First thing to try: Switch the router and laptops off. Wait 2 mins, Switch router back on, followed by the laptops.
You could also try changing the wireless channel used, as it's possible someone else local is using the same channel.
BTW You wouldn't be able to see the router's settings on the unconnected laptops because they are unconnected! How do I add a signature?0 -
Hi Figment,
Thanks for your answer. Yes, I've switched off and on many times. Taken out the plug of the router as well and put it back in. But no joy ... Any other suggestions welcome! How do I deal with the wireless channel? My router is passworded by the way.0 -
You can change the channel on your routers security webpage. You should been given this with the manual or you can google the maker. You'll normally need your password.0

Hi Richt,
I can get into the router webpage easily on the one laptop that works. But where do I find the channel?
The sections are:
Setup Wizard
Add WPS Client
Setup
Basic Settings
ADSL Settings
Wireless Settings
Content Filtering
Logs
Block Sites
Firewall Rules
Services
Schedule
Email
Maintenance
Router Status
Attached Devices
Backup Settings
Set Password
Diagnostics
Router Upgrade
Advanced
WAN Setup
Dynamic DNS
LAN IP Setup
Wireless Settings
QoS Setup
Remote Management
Static Routes
UPnP
Advanced VPN
VPN Wizard
VPN Policies
VPN Status
So where would I find the channel and how do I know what to change it to? I do need an idiot's guide as you can see!
Thanks for your help!0 -
It'll be in wireless settings on the list you show, although can't see why changing the signal would help your problem.
What is showing in your 'attached devices' when all laptops are on?0 -

Try the 'clear DHCP leases' button under LAN IP
Sorry to be thick but where would I find these? Thanks so much for your help!0 -
For attached devices, under maintenance on your router, look at post 5 which you did...0
