Wireless: Linksys ADSL2MUE / WRT54GS ok but adding WET54G means no internet

I'm looking for some advice on settings with the above combination of wireless hardware. I used to have a Telewest cable connection which I found excellent but have recently moved to an ADSL only area so needed to but an ADSL modem (Linksys ADSL2MUE).

I have this setup on 192.168.1.1 and in LLC (bridge mode) so that the Linksys WRT54GS (using satori firmware to boost xmit power up to 40) handles the DHCP connections from the wireless devices on the network. The wireless router is on 192.168.0.1 and has PPPoE set.

The above setup seems to work fine when I am connecting directly from my laptop through wifi to the wireless router and I can access both web consoles for the modem and wireless router.

However my other two home PCs in my study I planned to connect using a WET54G ethernet bridge that I have had for sometime and seemed to work fine when on telewest for connecting a games console through. However with the new ADSL connection although in the web confiuration I can see the wireless network (with or without enable broadcast SSID) and can select it and it asks for my WEP security codes and shows signal strength etc. When I try to connect to the internet I get no access. I tried playing with changing the WET54G to clone the mac address of the main PC so that it looked like one unit connecting and I also played around with my internet connection settings within IE and turned off all the firewall settings on the PC and on the router temporarily but notheing seems to work

Has anyone else got a similar configuration to this or is the simple solution to just go and buy a wireless PCI card for the desktop so that it connects directly to the WRT54GS in the same way the laptop does?

Thanks for any advice that can be given.

Justin

Internet sharing defaults 192.168.0.1 All networked items need to be able to access this on the router to connect. It may be the 2 pc's need to have the subnet mask changed. Do you get the connection icon in the system tray with a warning that the network may have limited or connectivity? If so that may be the problem. I always thought that PPPoA was set for ADSL. PPoE for cable.

To tell you the truth, you may as well get a wireless adapter for all your items. It will save alot of messing about.

The modem is set to PPPoA. I was following some guides on the interent to get the ADSL2MUE to work with the WRT54GS as these apparently can be a bit fiddly to get up and running. These recommended setting the router to PPoE.

I think your right about switching to wireless adapters for the two other PCs. May buy one today and give it a try when I get home.

I'll try juggling with the mask and gateway addresses. Luckily I have a 10-15m CAT5 cable knocking around somewhere that I could trail all the way through the house to the study upstairs as a workaround.

    Thanks
