How do I send a photo to my son?

Hope you can help please.
My laptop has windows 7.
I have BT/yahoo email.
I have windows live photo gallery.
when I try to add a photo to the email I want to send. I get a message saying : (There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or,if one is already installed creat an association in the default programs control.) I have tried but have not managed to send my photo.
I am not to clever with my new laptop.

In Yahoo mail follow the instructions for 'sending an attachment'A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
