Cooker hood carbon/charcoal filter

I opened up my cooker hood to give it a good clean & change the grease filter sheet. Had to use white spirit as nothing else would get grease off.

It has a circular Carbon filter under the fan to filter smells and I'm thinking of changing the carbon/charcoal chips in it.

Is there a way to tell if the carbon/charcoal chips really need changing and are no longer working effectively ??

No ! is the quickest answer.

Some filters have paint lines on that "bleed" when the filter need changing, if its used every day then best changed twice a year.

I'm talking about circular Carbon filters that have the jet black charcoal chips inside like these.

No but a carbon filter normally will last a maximum of about six months.

We sell the refill pellets (here) but it's better to use the pukka filters or replacements where you can as it's less hassle, although more expensive.

I don't know what model my Cooker Hood is.

It doesn't have any external markings/labels, they may have rubbed off over years.

Inside it has an indescript label which says: "Model: Range Hood" which doesn't really sound like a real make/model.

It's easy enough to change pellets, there's a flap on carbon filter housing you can open.
