March 2007 Grocery Challenge

I've been keeping my reciepts in envelopes on the pin board marked up with groceries, petrol, house+garden, clothing (hide that one!) and 'other' so that way I can see a running total any time.
Funny tonight - my OH is going skiing tomorrow and that involves 2x 2 hour car drive and that requires huge amounts of crisps and chocolate apparently. So he came back from Asda raving about own brands - theyr'e a quarter of the price - did you know that? amazing and i'm like 'oh really!'
Apart from that I had 7 small boys in my house unexpectedly, more like a swarm of locusts -ate all my biscuits and fruit and these are ones who their mums say never eat anything - well I alwasys find that kids eat fine here!!
so that's another trip to the shop, maybe I'll try own brands!!!!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -

Hi everyone
Well my first week of the March 2007 challenge is going well. I allocated £10.00 for this week and that is what I've spent this week. Hope for the same again next week.
Thanx

Bit late starting but have all my reciepts since 1st.
My aim is for £75 this month.. ive slipped lately and really need to get back on the wagon and back to my usual £50.. but i know it wont be possible just yet!
So from 1st-31st march £75 aim for just me and for food/drink only.
So far: £22.68 and its only the 4th!!
But alot of that was on a big shop today with lots of fruit and veg which should last me about a fortnight. Cupboards and freezer are bursting and i gave up takeaways for lent (after having 4 in one week when moving into here! ) so hoping to come in underbudget.
Specially as i have only £30 left in the bank and anoth 12 days to pay day and a final council tax bill for old address of £118 to pay in 10 days! :eek:0 -
Maybe me aiming to only spend £50 this month was a bit ambitious.:o
I spent another £2.54 today so my total for the month so far is £26.14 and its only the 4th March!:eek:0 -
Not doing too badly this week as we went away for a weekend.
Need to get a few bits today but am hoping to stay in budget (for a change!!)working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
:j May just scrape under the £100 target for this week.
Spent £4.50 on fruit and veg at the market on Saturday.
£28.00 in Tesco on Sunday. (Reduced to £20 after £8.00 refund due to overcharging!)
Back to Tesco today to buy dog food and milk £6.85.
Must avoid supermarkets for the next few days!!!!!In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)

I have had some dried beans in my store cupboard for months so last night I soaked them all and today I am cooking, bagging and freezing them for use in stews, chillis etc. House stinks of beans though! I am really trying to use what we have as much as possible with exception of fresh foods.
I am also really proud because I have managed to halve the electricity bill and I am beginning to get DH and kids on board on money saving.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
