We overspend drastically on food - there's only 2 of us and we spend £40-50 a week. I'll monitor things this month and try and lower the amount from next month.

    Total debt at LBM (09 2006) - £10,549.52 Total debt on 14 Mar 2007 - £9704.30 - 8.1% Paid off
    This week's budget - £20 Spend so far - £32.50
    March's target - keep overdraft below £600 - failed :(

Proud to be dealing with my debts

likewise, not entirely sure how much we spend I always start of well but no staying power ! will try harder.
Going to tally up my bill for the month which I hope shouldn't be too bad as I have used lots of the advise from OS and done my meal planners and batch cooking. Kids are loving the new improved organised Mum-they stopped asking me what was for dinner months ago-(I DON'T KNOW !!)
    2 adults and 2 kids ( with appetites like horses ! )
    Good luck to all.

Welcome to one and all glad to see we're getting more people to take up the challenge:T

MikeD don't apologise, each to their own here it's all about personal choices and learning to live within our means which you are doing very well.

I'm in again this month £300 for 2 adults, 2 children and a dog :D I am going to try tray bakes and meusli bar baking this month to see if kids will eat those in their lunch boxes instead of bought cereal bars

    First shop £114.58
    Budget left £185.42

    Hi everybody:wave:

I came to a decision last week that I can't shop weekly and locally so this month I'm going to aim for £200 for the month ( I have an added incentive of lots of unexpected expenses this month so I haven't a lot of choice) We have quite a lot left in the cupboards but I aim to use them but also keep a respectable stock for emergencies.

    Have a good month everyone:grouphug:

I’m in on this one. I kept all my February receipts and I totalled an average spend of £30 a week; way too much as I live alone and on benefits but I’ve been stocking up on supplies having been persuaded whilst lurking in OS forums that it would be a good move to buy a breadmaker and a slow cooker. Very pleased with both so far. Thanks to everyone for great advice and tips.

I do a supermarket shop every Friday for my elderly aunt and for myself but I very rarely go to shop apart from this; I’m aiming for a maximum £25 spend each week in March so that’s £125 for a 5-week period. I'm sure I could do better than this but doing it gradually!

I’m interested to see how much my bm supplies cost in comparison to shop bread – I’m still practising and already my hm bread tastes better!

Edited to say - I can only work by the week so my monthly total budget will reflect whether there are 4 or 5 Fridays in the month ....
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I am definately going to do this this month. I did the challenge in January and came in £15 under the months budget after some refunds! Last month, I didn't join the challenge and consequently came in overbudget (mainly thanks to dh who buys little bits and pieces for his lunch everyday  )

Our budget, as always is £75 a week for a family of 4, including a child with multiple food allergies and a soya intolerance. Should make things interesting this month as I need to shop around and in advance when looking for an easter egg for ds2! It is also hubby's birthday this month as well as mothers day. I think I will need a tight rein this month, especially as hubby has just come into the kitchen to inform me that he missed his monthly target and all of this months commission (£575) is down the drain
