Do you shop in charity shops? and if yes why? yes, enjoy finding bargains and unexpected small gift items, like the idea that it benefits others
if yes what do you buy from the store? books, audio cassettes (yep, I still have a cassette player!), gift items, games, some clothes
What encourages you to purchase from a store? it's for a good cause and I can afford to buy stuff I couldn't or wouldn't want to buy new
what are the three main things you buy from charity shops? books, greeting cards, gift items
Any favourite shops? local hospice shop, local homeless charity shop, bhf
do you contribute goods to charity shops? yes
Would you ever consider being a shop volunteer? could imagine it, if I can ever afford to retire ...
when was the last time you visited a shop? couple of weeks ago
what's your opinions on layout of the store, price of goods, window displays, staff helpfulness? layout + display much improved in recent years. prices still low, staff always kind and helpful
Is there anything you feel shops should change, for example lower price of goods, better layout etc: it looks like some of the chains are buying in stock, which, as others already said, we could buy cheaper elsewhere. they should concentrate on what they are good at: 2nd hand clothes, games, toys, books, CDs, DVDs and sell them on cheap. Ornaments and quirky gift items could probably be a little bit more expensive
When do you think you will be next visiting a charity shop? in a couple of weeks
any other opinions you would like to add please give? I like charity shops and enjoy browsing and buying from them. keep them going!!
good luck with your dissertation!0 -

This varies from shop to shop and area to area, on the whole the layout is good, window displays OK (usually look ameteurish, which of course they are)
price - hmm, a big one here to include in a general question, some things are priced ludicrously highly, eg today I saw a fake Gucci bag priced at £40.00, Prmark T-shirts for £4.00 when they were £2.50 to buy new.
Is there anything you feel shops should change, for example lower price of goods, better layout etc ? Lower general prices.

Do you shop in charity shops? and if yes why?
Oh yes, they're very cheap and usually decent stuff in there!
if yes what do you buy from the store?
they're fab for books and nick nacks like the odd whisky decanter, silverplated tea tray stuff like that. The sort of thing I can't afford new but I'll happily have second hand. I don't usually buy clothes or shoes because they don't really have the sort I'd buy unless I was looking for something for a fancy dress party, but I have bought curtains & nets before.
What encourages you to purchase from a store?
Price, location, staff being nice
what are the three main things you buy from charity shops?
1. Books
2. China/glassware
3. Nick nacks
Any favourite shops?
Yes, Sue Ryder in Ringwood. Fab stuff in there (oh no, now I've told everyone!)

Yes
Would you ever consider being a shop volunteer?
Yes

what's your opinions on layout of the store, price of goods, window displays, staff helpfulness?
They have everything stuffed inside a bit like a bazarre, prices are excellent though so one can't complain and it's more fun than the clinically tidy shops we have these days. Staff are often deaf old women who avoid your gaze and hide if you look like you're about to ask a question, but some are very nice.
Is there anything you feel shops should change, for example lower price of goods, better layout etc
Prices are usually fair, the layout can be terrible and sometimes I have to laugh at the window displays but they can only work with the donations they have.
When do you think you will be next visiting a charity shop?
This week I hope, I want to get some nice glass bottles/decanters for the home-made liqueurs I'll be making as gifts.Debt 2007 £17k
Current Debt approx £7.5k
Target - to pay off all debts by 2020 :A0 -
