New debt with Skillstrain/ CDF during DRO.

Hi There,

I applied for a debt relief order 14 April 2011 and it is due to finish 14 APR 2012.

In 2007 i took out a course with Skillstrain/Careers development finance totalling £3000. After seeing the company Skillstrain on watchdog i stopped paying them in 2008 as i was unhappy with the course materials and services.

I haven't heard anything whatsoever off them for 4 years and they have recently sent me a letter through a debt recovery company Demanding i pay them £2000.

As im still in the 1 year period for my Debt relief Order is there anything i can do?
Can someone advise me on what i can do regarding this debt?

You Help and Advice will be Greatly appreciated.

Regards

It isn't covered by the Debt Relief Order. Let your DRO complete in 5 days time.

This is a question for the debt-free wannabe board.

If you agree you owe £2k, you can make them an offer. If not, send a prove-it in the first instance.

Was this debt not included on your DRO? Would this debt take you over the 15k limit?

I assumed it wasn't included as the title says 'new debt'.

    Thanks for your reply.

It wasn't included in the DRO as i totally forgot about it. And they have not contacted me in 4 years about it.

if this 2k was added on it would add upto 14,500. which would be just under the limit.

Im wondering if i can add this debt with the rest?

Should i be sending that letter to the actual company i owe money to (which is career development finance) or to the Debt recovery company?

    Many Thanks

The debt collector. It's possible they now own the 'debt'. In any event, it's them who are demanding the 2k from you.
