Humax PVR Question

I've just bought a new Humax HDR Fox T2 PVR. Everything is fine but I'm confused about one thing.
It has two tuners so I can record two programs while watching a previously recorded program, or, I can record one program and watch another, so far so good.
Now the odd thing, I had it set to record two programs earlier this evening, the first program started and a little popup told me recording had started. I was watching something else.
Half an hour later the second program, on a different channel to the first program and the channel I was watching started. On my old PVR, a BT Vision Box, if this happens it tells you it's going to change channel to record the second program or I have to cancel the recording if I want to continue watching.
On the Humax this didn't happen, it said it was recording the second program and yet it allowed me to continue to watch my program.
I checked both recordings and they are both there and correct.
How is this possible if there are only two tuners in the Humax?
What am I missing? I wasn't watching via the TV tuner it definitely seemed to be the Humax.

You can watch a third channel with two recording. If the two recordings are from the same Multiplex then you can watch any other channel. If they are from different multiplexes then you are limited to channels from either of the two multiplexes being recorded. You can see what channel belongs to which multiplex at http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/dtt_channels.html0

You can also of course watch a 3rd programme on the tuner built into your TV, assuming that you have a Freeview one.No free lunch, and no free laptop

This is what I thought was happening, that somehow the Humax was doing this but when I checked the the TV tuner was showing a completely different channel.
I've only had the Humax since Saturday so I'm still getting to grips with it.
Another really great feature is the network capability. It can see all my music, pictures and video on my NAS drive and play them on the TV.
Then there's the ability to drag and drop files off the Humax to the NAS to make space.
If this had been possible from the Vision box I wouldn't have needed the Humax :cool:One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
