Other party should have gone through their insurance. Their renewal will probably go up anyway now and she could have claimed the diff back from you each year until the position to where she should have been is equal, via court probably. Not sure she can now but its something to consider.

From the other party's point of view, its always easier for them just to inform their own insurance com. for Information Only.
Then deal directly with your ins. company. Faster and easier.
Ive been through it twice, all work and problems done and dusted in 10 days, If I had gone through my own it would have taken months.

Good luck, hope all goes okay.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If it is a cracked or split bumper you could be in for a nasty suprise especially if there is something behind it bent. I had a split bumper, hit a deer with no other damage, £450.

You can get an idea of the increase in premium this will cause by doing dummy quotes online, without this claim and with an extra year's NCD, or with the claim and 2 years less NCD (from your present level).

If you let your insurer deal with this, after the matter is concluded you can see how much is involved, and if it seems cost efficient, reimburse your insurer and thereby get your NCD reinstated.

(Forget about your Dad's advice, normally Dad's are always right, but not this time!!)

thanks for that - I ran a dummy quote including the accident, listing it as settled and her costs as £500 and then chose comphrehensive cover as opposed to the 3rd party fire and theft I've got now and the quote came back as £1138 - I "only" paid £1100 for this years so that doesn't seem too bad - hope its still accurate in november!

I managed to get in for an mot today and my costs were £400 but that was including the mot, a new headlight and a lot of other stuff like something to do with the suspension and a load of brushes and two new tyres as they were getting near the limit so I didn't think that was too bad.

I feel a bit clearer now, hopefully when she contacts me tommorow and then I speak to the insurers the matter can be over soon.
