  • Hi Samuela66

I'm on first name terms with the regular CS at my local Asda (because of the amount of times i complain about overcharging :D ) and always get the £2 card but i have to ask every time, they never, ever volunteer them. also be prepared to stand your ground if you get refused - They do say on their website that they give them as standard but obviously train their staff differently.

I had to go through a real battle to get mine. They were selling some cereal for £1.48 down from £1.98, but we were charged £1.98. I thought I'd read on here about the giftcard but wasn't sure so just got the difference back.

2 weeks later, overcharged on same item again, got the difference and asked for my giftcard. Battleaxe on CS just said 'no'. I told her it was on the company's website but she said 'that only applies if you've left the store and have to come back'. (Do they go to the same excuse school as Tesco CS?)

So got in touch with head office, who got in touch with the customer service manager at the store, and eventually ended up with £5 gift card + £2 + £2 for the overcharges.

They still didn't change the wrong price for about 5 weeks though, so god knows how many 50p's they made in that time from people who didn't notice.

I work for Asda CS & yep we do, for each item overcharged, well each line, say if you're overcharged on 5 tins of the same beans, thats one giftcard, then if you get overcharged on say another product, that's another.

I would've walked out and then walked back in again.

  • hi samuela66, the reason you were overcharged for spring onions is because this product has a bar code and a code number which the till operator can enter manually, in this case spring onions were reduced to 30p and if they were scanned this is the price they would have come up, but if the till operator keyed the code in for them then they would come up as the original price before the special offer began. Asda never tell us checkout operators anything!! yet we still get the blame!!. at our asda the cs do give out £2 giftcards but you have to ask for them x
