Fraser Hart wedding ring advice pls!

Options
My husband and i purchased two wedding rings from Fraser Hart in Oct 2005. The rings are white gold with a tiny diamond embedded in it. Total cost of them are £1400 paid by credit card.

Basically sometime last week i noticed that the diamond on my husbands ring has gone missing so i called Fraser Hart and told them the situation and they said to bring it in to them and they will send it off and get it inspected to see if there was a manufactors problem with it.

Today they called me and said that the ring didn't have a manufactors fault and i could get it repaired for £140. To be honest i find it totally disgusting that i paid £700 for one ring for the diamond to have fallen out just after a years wear and the thing is my husband doesn't even wear the ring on his finger, he puts it round his chain on his neck!

Was wondering whether anyone could give me any advice as to whether i should take it up further and complain or should i just pay up and get it repaired?

not an expert on jewellery, but it might be worth going to a different jewellery to see if they can spot anything defective with the ring.
