Viewings and estate agents

It is really difficult to view properties when no viewings are allowed on a sunday. So basically saturday is the only day on which a working person is able to view a property. And on that day estate agents have too many viewings booked and are just waiting to finish their work early. Viewings are always rushed, no proper information is given and very often after coming home we are left feeling that we didn't see this or that properly. Buying a property is one of the costliest investments anyone makes in their lives. So it should not be something we have to rush through. Why can't the public get together and request the estate agents to keep their offices open on Sundays and allow viewings? People have to work to pay their mortgages and if they are working Mon-Fri (as is the common practice), then they do not have the time to view properties on weekdays. Why can't estate agents understand this basic thing? Can't anything be done about this?

Some are open on Sundays. We have two near us that are next to each other, one opens on Sunsay and tge other doesn't. Some can arrange owner led viewings for Sunday. Also some like to have their own time at home with their families on a Sunday.
If you have lots to view why not book a day off and get a whole day of viewings booked in if they can't fit them around your work commitments.0 -
There's no difficulty round my way getting viewings weekdays, evenings or weekends..... maybe this is just local to you?0

Unless the OP is nearby then I wouldn't say that it's just local to them (albeit I can imagine that it will vary between areas and also EAs)... the latest appointments on weekdays here is 5.30pm, no appointments on Sundays or bank holidays and therefore they jam pack the Saturday viewings just 15 minutes apart, leaving them feel very rushed indeed! You were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0 -
It's just down to luck of the draw. I used to live above one in SE London that opened 7 days a week and until 8pm each weeknight for later viewings.
Back in N.Ireland though... we have no agents open on Sundays and for more than 3 - 4 hours on a Saturday. Doh!0 -
Can't the sellers show you around on a Sunday?
When we chose our EA we made sure they were available to do viewings on evenings and weekends as we have moved to another part of the country and can't do them ourselves. In fact they told us that Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons are the most popular slots.0
