your insurace seems worthless in this situation.
You must be managing to get him in and out of your house (up and downstairs in and out of a bath/toilet etc) so i cant see how getting him out of a caravan will cause that much distress.
Are you taking him on your own or are other kids/adults going0 -
There are 2 adults and 4 children going in total (including myself and my son)..He isn't very steady on his crutches infact he scares me to be honest. He can't put his foot on the ground as he isn't allowed to weight bare and we haven't bathed him since his accident as we can't get him in and out of our bath. I cant lift him as i am disabled myself since injuring my spine in an accident although i can walk im not allowed to lift heavy weights. He can get out of our home safely as we already have a permanent ramp.He gets up and down the stairs on his bottom although i wouldn't dream of asking him to drag himself outside on his bottom, especially not if it were wet.
As for the insurance i will be speaking to tham on tuesday as it doesn't appear to be worth the paper its written on.0 -
Im not sure exactly what you are trying to get at but he has both crutches and a wheelchair and as previously stated he isn't very competent with his crutches infact id go as far as to say he is unsafe with them.
I thought this forum was for helpful advice etc if your posts are anything to go by i obviously made a mistake!
This is 2012 surely it is not unreasonable to expect a major company to provide adequate, fair and safe access to its accomodation whether the person is temporarily disabled or permanently disabled.0 -
Sometimes on this forum people try and put a comment down before they pop off to do something else and it can sound a bit harsh to a newbie (or an oldbie).
It hasn't been that long since your son's accident and of course you are trying to stop him being disappointed. You haven't spoken to the park manager yet, so good luck with that. I am sure they will help out as much as they can so give them (another) chance. It sounds like they do have provision for disabled people that probably reflects the proportion of people in the population that have difficulties. Sounds like those are already booked as it's a busy time. Just give them a little time to try and help out. Where did the wheelchair come from? Could whoever supplies suggest some solutions too.
What you may find is that the company has tried to contact another family who is allocated to more suitable accommodation to see if they could swap but can't get hold of them if they are with family over Easter.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
you have made an awful lot of presumptions about my life without full posession of all the facts,My son does not like to be man handled, he finds it very painful to be manouvered by others.
however this is all irrelevant now as we spoke directly to the park diretly again earlier and they have been able to find an accomodation with suitable safe access for my son, which we have thanked them for profusely (and will thank them again for when we get there).
Big thanks to all those who offered advice it is appreciated x0 -
That is great news. You must be so relieved. I'm glad its resolved now. There are some decent people out there.0

My son has broken both bones in his left leg, they are both rare breaks and are in his growth region which complicates things further, he is still in a very heavy back slab due to the swelling and is not allowed to weight bare at any time for the forseeable future. The hospital issued him with crutches as this is all that they now supply due to thieves not returning equipment, they told us that they would prefer him to have his leg elevated at all times which is why we rented a wheelchair from a private company.Unfortunately he wont be competent with his crutches by friday (if ever) as he also suffers from dyspraxia.0

Im glad you have had a good outcome. I wouldnt bother posting anymore to explain. You have already clearly explained enough. Some peeps on here are obviously bored
.
I cant imagine moving my 9 year old around in a wheelchair and Im sure him and crutches would be a disaster as well
.
Hope you and your family have a great time.
PS Have I been on here long enough to post a supportive opinon?
