Remote Disc on MacBook Air

Hi Guys,
Trying to set up Remote Disc to allow a new MBA to 'borrow' the DVD drive of a desktop PC. DVD or CD sharing is installed and enabled on the Windows PC, but it does not show in Finder on the MBA. I also installed DVD or CD sharing on a laptop and it shows up in Finder instantly when enabled. Both are running the same version of W7 (Home Premium)
It's not a firewall issue, as I've checked the firewall is allowing DVD or CD Sharing, and to be certain have tried with the firewall disabled. I can also see and access the both W7 machines as shared devices on the MBA.
The only differences I can think of are the desktop PC is connected to the router via ethernet cable (I've ruled this out as being the cause by connecting the laptop via ethernet too and disabling wireless on it), and the desktop has two optical drives.
Suggestions on what else I should check please?

What are you trying to achieve exactly? Just direct access to a remote DVD drive?
Just make sure the DVD drive on the PC is shared. Then on the MBA, press Apple key + K, then do smb://DESKTOPPC/D (for example)0 -
I'm trying to fathom out why it won't work using Remote Disc. I know I can do it the other way.How do I add a signature?0
