Lavender - advice please

  • Hi, I would recommend cutting your lavender back in September to around half an inch above the hard wood. This should then encourage new growth from the bottom of the plant. If your lavender is woody you can also replant it but leave only the green growth showing, i.e. cover the old wood under the soil. When replanting be careful not to split the plant.

You can also cut the lavender down in the spring after the 'first flush' of new growth to help shape it. This is also the best time to take soft wood cuttings.

We have a guide to growing lavender if you need anymore info on the Yorkshire Lavender website.
