how easy is it to reseal double glazing?

I've realised that my windows are needing resealed around the edges and I'm just wondering if it's a job I could tackle myself?
I'm not talking about the double glazing units themselves but the seal that's between the plastic units and the wooden frames. I can see that the seal that was put in originally has come away from the plastic of the windows. It appears that only a very small amount of sealant was used to begin with and it's no longer sticking correctly.
What would be the correct sealant to use internally if indeed it is a job I'm able to carry out? If it is just a case of using the correct silicone sealant, I don't really want to pay for someone else to carry out the work.
Thanks in advance for any advice

just rake out the old sealant and reseal with new silicone sealant.
usually white.
get a sealant gun too.
if the outside is sealed properly then you could use normal polfilla (caulk) to seal the internal gap. if so desired.Get some gorm.0 -
I've done mine its not difficult, if you use silicone sealant choose your colour carefully as you won't be able to paint over it, you can if you use caulk though.
You won't get a neat line doing it yourself (until you've had lots of practise) so have a bowl of water with some washing-up liquid in to hand then when you've done a line wet your finger and run it over it, it'll smooth the line out and get rid of any bumps.0 -
thank you - I now know how I'll be spending my bank holiday Monday0
