I have never bothered locking bags when traveling, it all seems rather pointless to me. If someone wants to help themseves to your "goodies" they'll do it regardless of wether your bags are locked or not! I make (on average) 30 - 35 flights a year, and have never had anything stolen.

The main reason for locking bags is to reduce the chances of them flying open.

The question is, if the US (most advanced country in the world) doesn't have the ability to open normal locks, what does the rest of the world do?
  • Yes. My locks were broken and discarded. No warning.

I have TSA locks and on my return from Florida this year I opened my case to find a note telling me that it had been opened. I'd rather have my case opened and re-locked than have them broken. Travel to USA often and have no worries with tsa locks. Asda do seem to be the cheapest for 2 locks approx£4 when i got some, usually on an end with other travel stuff.
