There are 2 sites of halls for Swansea Uni, onsite at the uni and the offsite student village in Killay. I'm from Swansea but have never been in the halls myself so can't really help you sorry but I think the offsite ones are better from what I've heard, but you need to get a bus to uni/town/library etc (although it runs bout every 20mins I think).

If you have any questions about the town etc feel free to ask me!

Ah thanks flutterby but being a valley's girl myself I know swansea well :rotfl::rotfl:

Junior is looking at applying for accommodation for September and although he initially was looking at the traditional halls (i think due more to cost) I was wondering if anyone had experience of the flat type rooms which I think personally would be better as there seems to be more chance of intergrating etc.

I know there is the student village but when I went there admittedly out of term time) it didn't seem very nice - so I guess the question is , should we not judge a book by its cover?

    Fair enough!

I'll ask around and see if anyone knows what they are like (my best friend's little brother goes there so will see if any of his friends lived in halls- he lives at home) and report back.

I think the student village is actually quite nice, but I've not been up there since I was in uni and I graduated 9 years ago!

I spent a week in the on-campus flat accommodation a few years ago. Unless they have been renovated I wouldn't recommend it. I think the best word to describe them would be "dingy", but then I also thought that about the union/bar.
  • Don't live in Student Village unless you have a car as it's about a 30 minute walk to campus. If you're after living on campus, which I would highly recommend for your first year I would apply to live in either Penmaen (which I'm in) or Horton, these both have roughly the same layout - standard sized room with an en suite and you'll be paying about £110 a week because they're both new buildings and a lot more modern than the others.
