In my experience Union Representitives are very much 'Company People' so dont assume they will be out to get the best they can for you.

I'm not on about the rep's because I could be a rep - but the general secretary of the union that helped me0 -

i'm so pleased for you!:T i was going to say have other staff members been allowed to keep daytime hours? and especially as you mentioned the reason he gave up his last job.
hopefully he won't ever need our help again IYKWIM, but at least he now knows once he has been there a year he will be more protected.
