hi my husband has been working for a firm for about 9 months now he loves it in the catering department up till 2 weeks ago he was told that in 2 weeks time his hours would change from 9-5.30 to 3-10.30 and he told them he was not willing to do these hours as he had 2 small children so on he kept getting pulled in they were saying your doing these hours bla bla bla ect and he has not turned up all week of the hours he has been changed to they have not sacked him but can anyone help me on this as were struggling to live basicly does anyone out there know if there in the wrong? or if hubby is in the wrong? i know there is a law on flexable hopurs for familys but not sure how it works also his company are a major company so should have contract but he does not know if he has one can anyone help please?

I suppose they can say they gave notice, What did his initial contract say? as you say he is not sure if he has one. He really needs to find out. Does he have a union?

my son is 5 so he will be at school and by the time he finishes work he will be in bed whats a union? also he is not sure if he has a contract but he is going to find out tommorow

also he has not requested to work flexable hours as he had flexable hours when he started there

It says parents, not mothers. That would be a bit sexist
