Adding 3 additional drivers to my insurance, will this affect them?

Hi,

I'm just comparing insurance quotes, and have found that adding my Father, my Brother and Boyfriend as additional drivers brings down my quote by £150 per annum. Does this affect them in any way IF I should claim?

No, not that I can think of. The other way round it would (if they were to crash your car it'd have to be declared on both insurances).

Surprising that adding 3 male drivers brings it down so much but well done!

You have played around with combinations of the three haven't you? I.e. I would have thought adding just your father would bring it down even more, unless he only passed last year or something.

Remember if they have any new points or an accident/claim on their own own or any other policy you will need to update your insurer.

Check admin charges for any changes/updates.

getmore4less: Sorry do you mean if my Dad has a claim on his own policy, he needs to declare it to mine too?
At the moment, Dad is main driver on the first car with me and Bro as additional drivers. I will buy a car later with me as main driver + 3 additional as stated above.
-What would happen in this situation IF Dad was to claim and
-What would happen if my Bro was to claim?

Yes. When you add drivers you are asked if they have had any claims or convictions in the past X years. Thats because it makes them a higher risk which ups your premium.

They don't just ask for claims, do they? It's incidents/accidents whether to blame or not, usually the last 5 years.
My daughter is named on my policy. She had a no fault accident 4 years ago and didn't make a claim, the other driver admitted fault (respect for his honesty) and his insurance paid out everything.
Strangely enough, even declaring the accident, my policy is cheaper than not adding her to it!

O I know that they ask for convictions and accidents etc and there are none to declare. What I'm asking is, what happens if I buy policy now, then I claim, do I need to tell my Dad's insurer because I am a named driver on his policy? Or do I just disclose this when it's renewal time again?

You / he would need to check his policy to find out whether such incidents need to be declared straight away or just at next renewal.
