working from home

I am trying to find work to do from home but it seems near impossible.
Why should I pay a company to work for them!
There are plenty of jobs on offer- i have looked into everything from selling books to sweets but they all ask for alot of money to start up. Does anyone know of any work I can do from home without having to pay a small fortune to do so, I just dont know where to look now all the sites I have looked at seem rather dodgy!

Hi, i know how difficult this can be, have you looked at Avon? i was an Avon lady for a while and i think it was just £20 to start up, after that tho you really need to put yourself out there to try and get decent money.

Do you have any qualifiactions that might enable you to do some freelance editing or typing? tout yourself around the nearest university and see if any of the students need an editor or typist, this can be really good money if you get PHD Students as they sometimes have thier own buget paid for by the university for things like that.
Aside from that have you thought about babysitting or childminding?

You could look at becoming a just-dial agent. Doesn't cost you a single penny to start up (you get all the numbers free) and the amount you earn is based on how many people use your service. If you are interested then go to https://www.just-dial.com to have a look. If you plan to sign up please contact me so I can give you my agent number to put down as the referral code. I won't post it here as it might be against the rules, but the amount you earn stays the same (0.75p per minute on a 5p access number - but I get 0.2p if I'm put down as your referrer), so I would appreciate it.

Alternatively you could look at making your own website and joining tradedoubler and become an affiliate for the various companies available on there. There is no cost involved in becoming an affiliate, the only cost would be the website.

I currently have my own website where I promote the just dial service and I'm an affiliate for some of the companies on trade double which is working out pretty good. Main reason I went down this route is because other than buying a website I didn't have to spend a single penny (because I didn't want to risk any of my own money on something that might/might not take off).

Do be careful with companies asking for money upfront - many are scams, and you will be lucky to see any materials needed, or if you do, to get paid for your work. Check out any company before signing up to anything.

    Good luck.
Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!
  • Betterware dont ask for any sign up fees, nor do you have to part with any money. if you go to their website you can ask them to contact you with more details. http://www.betterware.co.uk/recruitment.aspx

  • any company asking for money is generally trying to rip you off. could i suggest that you phone any printing companies in your area. they usually employ outworkers. i know this because i work for a printing company and i'm often asked to take work home. i choose not to because its not easy. the work is menial and usually involves stuffing envelopes or sticking things together. you need to be nimble fingered.you can do it while watching tv. it often needs to be returned very early. but one of our outworkers earned £800 last month. good luck with your hunt for work

If you are a fast and experienced typist you could look into doing transcription work. I do the odd bit of transcription work when needed. If you google transcription it will give you some idea. :D

That Just Dial idea - do you get the same Agent Commission either way of you

    a) join directly on their site or
    b) rather via another Agent who would then get a Parent commission?

Karri - you could try Phoenix Trading. Their website is https://www.phoenix-trading.co.uk. For a start up fee of £49 you get a business kit with lots of info and samples to run your own business from home. You basically sell cards, gift wrap, bookmarks, invites etc from brochures. You can do it door to door, in schools/playgroups or fayres etc. The products are really nice and are good quality. The cards sell at £1 each or 90p if you buy more than 10. So not too expensive either.
Might be too much for you to get started or might not.
I have a DVD about the business if you want me to send you one. I've been a Trader for about 4 years and really like doing it. Haven't made loads but I really enjoy it!
