Wireless printers - any advice?

Hi,
Can anyone offer any advice on a wireless printer my hp psc 1350 is on its last legs (typical as just bought 2 new carts!) and I would really like a wireless one, I just use it for general - print the odd picture for school stuff and print pages out for the kids to colour etc and have used the scanner a bit more than I thought I would. I'm using an iMac - not sure if that makes any difference? Was also looking at one with AirPlay maybe?...
Obviously the cartridge cost is a big issue - appreciate any help.
Cheers

Well I recently ordered a Canon Pixma MG5250 - wireless all-in-one that can do double sided too. Now, this is the current model in this bracket but is out of stock most places. Other thing to note is that the typical £130 price can get a refund of £30 via a Canon cashback offer for limited time.

Comet appear to have it on pre-order & collect from store, I will soon find out if it is physically in stock!

Hi There,
Sorry i can't offer any advice on a wireless printer, however you may have better choice, when looking at Ethernet based printers and then adding a WiFi Internet adapter (Netgear do an adapter or try eBay).
Good luck.0 -
I bought an Epson wireless printer a few years back and it was a nightmare. After the first ten pages, I don't think I managed to print a single sheet that was of acceptable quality.
I returned it and bought a Canon USB printer. I managed to get an old 1GHz Compaq Presario PC from work, attached it to the printer, added a wireless adapter, installed Windows XP, then unplugged the keyboard, mouse & monitor and moved it into position, turning the printer into a wireless one.
When necessary, I can control the PC remotely using Remote Desktop (in Windows) or VNC (in Linux). And I've set it up so that pressing the power button shuts it down (so I can turn it on & off easily without having to fiddle about with remote control software).
If you have an old PC or can get one very cheaply (the PC I use must been about 10 years old, at least), that might be an option for you...Obviously the cartridge cost is a big issue - appreciate any help.
Cartridges for my Canon printer cost about £10 -- so £50 for a full set of 5! The ones I get on eBay cost about 50p each. Having bought two sets of non-original cartridges, I've already covered the cost of a replacement printer if the inks damage it (not that that's likely)... so (unless colour accuracy is important to you) there's no reason to buy the original manufacturer's brand of ink.
So, just go to eBay and do a search for ink cartridges, showing only "Buy it Now" listings. Sort by total price and quickly scan through the list to see which replacement cartridges are cheapest and abundantly available. Then check which printers they fit and see if any of them would suit your needs.
Or, if you know which printers you're interested in, do a search for the specific ink cartridges you'd need to see how much you're going to be spending.
Obviously this completely ignores the fact that cartridges for different printers will have different capacities, so check that out too...0 -

ebay is the best place to get compatibles, for my sx200 they work out about 50p per cart, so £2 for a set of 4, compared with the £12.50 (excluding vat at 20%) = £15 a set. on that site Eycpluk posted. man are you being ripped off getting them there.
compare that to this

12 cartridges = 3 sets for £5.95 including free p&p and more in each cartridge 21ml.
for the printer that buglawton posted. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Ink-Cartridge-IP4850-IP4950-MG5150-MG5250-MG5350-MG6150-MG6250-MG8150-/160766338327?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_Printing_PrinterInkCatridges_JN&hash=item256e6ba517
10 cartridges £9.95 and contain 10.5ml for each cart except the large black which is 18ml. and you get 2 of each.
the epson SW515W printer uses the same cartridges my sx200 uses but its a wireless, prices are around £59 for the SW515W printer.0 -
The SX438W at £44 has similar specs to the 515W

The 535WD has the added advantage of double side printing at £65
