Curtains for patio door
evoke
I've got quite a wide sliding patio door and its great for letting in lots of light. However, privacy is a bit of an issue as neighbours can see into my home if they're out in their back gardens.
So, I'm looking for suggestions on curtains or blinds for the patio door but I need something that will still let a lot of light through and something which can be moved out of the way very easily to allow full access through the patio door.
My initial thoughts are voile curtains.

Before I read the last line of your post, that's what I was going to suggest.
You could have brackets either side of the door for them to loop back onto, so you don't have to 'draw' the curtains open and shut every time, if you preferred.0 -
Vertical blinds are good and easy to use, you can slant them, open them up totally, close them totally, and plus they let loads of light in, voile and net curtains leave rooms dark/dingy and you feel hemmed in,(well I do).....0

Could go with traditional horizontal blinds, mounted on the doors. This has the advantage of allowing the doors to open without touching the blinds. They have the advantage of not being as deep as verticals.
Also consider if a tree or some screening in the garden might help.0 -
Blinds are great, agree with shegar. ^^"Real knowledge is knowing the extent of one's ignorance."0

I used to have a dual vertical blind on my patio doors and it would work on sliding ones too. It was wooden vertical blinds that could be adjusted individually so I could have one open/tilted and the other one raised to give me some privacy but also allow people in and out without any fuss.
I also had a curtain pole and voile panels (always more than one) so that the whole voile curtain didn't have to be moved to get through the doors. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
