Whenever Firefox is running too high, I check what tabs I have open.
This morning I had three LoveFilm tabs open, and they use a lot of CPU as they are full of ads, Flash and javascript items.
Close any tabs with animated ads on or video, and you should be ok.Look at it this way... In a hundred years who's gonna care?0 -
Is your antivirus subscription up to date?
I found that the CPU on one PC went high when its AV (Kaspersky in that case) expired.0 -
EDIT - My antivirus did an idle scan today and quarantined 5 items of Trojan Maljava.
Would appreciate if someone could review the above HJT and let me know of any other actions
Thanks0 -
first thing to do is download, install, update and run a quick scan with malwarebytes:-
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
decline the trial of the full (real-time) protection during installation/running.
allow it to delete all it finds (may need to reboot to complete this) and post the log file up here. Get rid of the infections then attack the HJT logs......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Hi - Thanks for that. I did a scan yesterday and it didnt find anything however this morning Norton did.
Ive just done another malwarebytes scan and nothing found again:

Run the command 'msconfig' and have a look in there. Untick all the startup items you don't need running. These will start when required. The only things you NEED are things like antivirus and sound. Look at the program file path to decide if its needed. A good 95% will not be. Things like Java shedcule and abode reader. Next click services tab and hide all microsoft services. Then untick them all and restart. The difference will be amazing.0

Trojan.Maljava is for files that exploit insecure versions of Java.
Clear the Java cache.

Ensure you have the latest secure version, removing older versions.
