I love my Makita 18v Li-on
has a work light on it and full recharge in 20 mins, had the Bosch in the past and I found the Makita way out performed the Bosch.
Have a look at a company called ITS London they do mail order power tools, ive used them many times and rarely have any local dealers been able to match their deals.

I have this one http://www.itslondon.co.uk/pd_MAKBHP453ZBL_BHP453ZBL_Makita18vLiionHammerDrillDriverBodyBattery.htm
Had it a couple of years now and never had any problems with it, ive a couple of extra batteries as well.
You can find them on ebay but make sure they are from a trusted seller and are not fake drills. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
I have the Makita LXT 600 cordless kit , its very good but Makita do have issues with battery life.I'vehad 3 go pop in 3yrs.My old Makita N-mhi batteries are sill going strong after 8 yrs...
IMO your better off going for a Combi drill rather than impact driver as its more versatile.
When looking for the best deal be sure to compare like for like. Some will come with no charger,or body only, 1.3 ah batteries and some 3ah batteries so do your research.0 -
I find work lights on most drill a complete waste of time as they do nothing but cause a shadow where you actually need the light.0

Yeh bit of a gimmick, if you need a light you might aswell as have a head torch, they cost about 3 quid are more versatile and cover a larger area.
Saying that i thought the B&D auto tape measure was a bit of a gimmick had a customer who came in one day at work and bought 4 of them (think they were £20 a go at the time for a tape measure!) He only had one arm and ive never seen someone soo pleased to buy a tape measure think he took a couple of their auto wrenches too.
Regards to the OP thought li-ion was the only way to go now?! im happy with my makita ni-cad, does the jobs i need it for and only paid £3 for it (sorry i do mention this in more or less every post regardning DIY, bargain of the century!)0 -
Thanks for all the replies
erm yeah, I find that the bosch lights that are near the battery tend to be alright, but the higher mounted ones are more of a gimmick
defintiely gonna go for a combi dril over an impact driver.... I like the thought of an impact driver, but only in addition to a combi and I ain't splasshing over 100 quid for something that will be there just in case....if I start doing lots of heavy woodwork, then maybe it would mkae more sense
Ithink I'm gonna look for something with two smaller batteries instead of one larger.... probablygonna suit me more
Cheers again for all the help:money:0
